Students participate in a local art contest centered around a shared theme. Artists design large, bold compositions, with winning banners displayed downtown for the community to see.

Inspired by Charles Demuth and Figure Five in Gold, students use the school mascot as a base and segment the design. Artists incorporate symbols, images, and hidden details that represent who they are.

Students take an everyday object and create artwork that interacts with it. This project challenges artists to think creatively about space, form, and viewer experience.

Students learn how to show foreground, middle ground, and background through repetition, scale, and detail. Using layered plants and landscapes, artists create depth and space within their drawings.

Students learn to create smooth gradients and add value through careful shading techniques. The project focuses on blending, layering, and expressing identity through small, detailed imagery.

Inspired by Pablo Picasso, students divide their self-portrait much like Picasso’s work. Using the grid method, artists redraw their portrait and incorporate images on one side of the face to communicate something about who they are.
